Why Change your cars suspension?

First need to identify the reasons for changing the suspension on your car. The first reason is to enhance the looks of your car by lowering the ride height – giving a more aggressive and sporty appearance. The second would be to improve the cars handling and road holding – dramatically altered by fitting a sports spring kit or full suspension kit. Your choices aren’t limited to just one of these benefits as most of the suspension kits we supply will give you the sporty appearance and better handling.

Which suspension is best for me?

Next we need to look at is which suspension parts we offer and a brief description of their benefits. There are 4 main types available:

  1. Apex Lowering Spring Kit Sports Spring Kits – Between 20% and 30% uprated over the standard springs and designed as direct replacements for your cars existing coil springs (supplied in set of 2 or 4 depending on application). This is usually the cheapest way to lower your cars suspension – sport spring kits cost between £40 and £150+ and can be used with your existing shock absorbers. The sports springs lowering varies but is usually 30 to 40mm – although we can supply kits that will lower up to 60mm (when lowering you car this much we would suggest fitting shortened dampers to prevent premature wear of the standard unit). A wide selection of different kits are available, ranging from the budget kits from the likes of Gmax, PI and Avo, through the Mid ranged priced Apex Suspension and then up to the top end Eibach Kits. You should be able to find a kit to suit your needs at a price that fits your budget.
  2. Sports Shock Absorbers – The sports shock absorbers (or dampers as they are sometimes known) are a direct replacement for your standard dampers, these units are uprated by approx 25%. Sports shock absorbers are usually slightly shorter as they are designed to be used with matching sports springs – ideal if you have lowered springs fitted to your car and require replacement shock absorbers. They will also help firm up your car’s suspension and improve your car’s handling.
  3. AVO Roadsport Suspension Kit Sports Suspension Kits – We offer a wide range of full suspension packages, these normally contain a set of uprated dampers and a matching set of lowering springs or sports springs. Prices for suspension kits start at around £175 offering an excellent ‘bolt-on’ upgrade. Sports suspension kits are available for most cars and offering lowering from 25 to 60mm.
  4. Bilstein B14 PSS Coilover Suspension Kit Coilover Suspension Kits – More specialised kits, normally fitted by people who are looking for the greatest flexibility. They are also known as ride height adjustable kits, allowing the amount the car is lowered to be adjusted by moving the spring platform – very popular for customers wishing to lower their cars more than standard lowering springs allow. Some of these coilovers have the facility for the damping to be adjusted too – providing the ability to make the suspension harder or softer as required. The most popular coilover suspension kits are by FK Automotive, KW, Weitec, H&R and Bilstein.
