Why Change your cars exhaust? The main reasons for replacing your exhaust system are because it has come to the end of its life, or because you would like to replace it with an aftermarket sports exhaust. This may be a sports rear silencer box or a complete sports exhaust system. By replacing your standard exhaust with a performance exhaust you should notice an increase in you cars performance and driveability and at the same time have a nice sporty sound. They can also change the look of your car, as most of the exhausts we sell have larger diameter polished tailpipes to enhance your cars appearance. Also as you browse our website you will notice many of our performance exhausts are available in mild or stainless steel for long life performance.

What is best for me? Most exhaust manufacturer’s split their product range into 4 categories:

  1. Jetex Aluminised Steel Exhaust Rear Box Sports Rear Boxes – This is the rear part of the exhaust which contains the tailpipe or tailpipes from which the exhaust fumes are expelled, sometimes this can be referred to as the rear silencer, back box or tail box. These are the cheapest option for people just wanting a more sporty exhaust note and a nicer tailpipe design than the standard. Expect to pay around £100 for a mild steel box from Piper or Jetex and then £150+ for a stainless one from Scorpion or Magnex.
  2. Magnex Performance Exhaust Systems and Manifolds Sports Exhaust Systems – The sports exhaust system (commonly known as the exhaust pipe) usually comprises of a sports rear box (as above) together with the centre section of the exhaust which runs underneath the car from the rear box towards the engine. Usually the exhaust system joins to the downpipe or catalytic converter using a bolted flange. These offer all the benefits of the sports rear silencer but with the edition of a bigger increase in power. We offer systems for most cars in a wide range of styles and prices depending on your budget, most popular makes are Piper and Jetex who offer a range of both mild and stainless systems up to the likes of Scorpion, Milltek and Magnex who specialise in 100% stainless systems.
  3. Milltek Hi Flow Sport Cats Sport Cats and Downpipes – The catalytic converter (or cat as it is known) usually join to the downpipes, however sometimes the cat is part of the downpipe. The cat is designed to reduce the harmful gases engines produce before they are expelled through the exhaust system. The sports cats we offer are a replacement for the original catalyst, but due to their construction and free flowing ability offer a significant increase in power. The benefit with fitting a sports cat over a normal cat bypass/replacement pipe is that in a majority of cases the car will still be able to pass through an MOT test when fitted. Milltek have really got a very good range of these cats for the VW/Audi cars, but the range is expanding all the time.
  4. Milltek Free Flow Exhaust Manifolds & Downpipes Exhaust Manifolds – Made of mild steel or stainless steel, the exhaust manifold mounts to the exhaust side of the cylinder head. An exhaust manifold gasket is used at the connection to ensure a good seal... The exhaust manifold routes the exhaust gases leaving the cylinder head to the exhaust system. As such, the manifold also serves as a connection point for the exhaust pipe. These can offer a big increase in performance when used in conjunction with a sports exhaust system.
